Lady Gaga got upset at her interviewer who asked her an odd question and called him out on his sexism.

Lady Gaga’s Ultimate Clap Back at Sexist Interviewer Who Tried Undermining Her Music

Lady Gaga has a reputation for clapping back at comments and questions that make her uncomfortable. Being a woman comfortable in being herself at a time by the media wasn’t ready to see it, she has been subjected to sexist criticism for a big part of her career as a pop icon.

Despite this, not only has she been able to establish herself as one of the most revolutionary people in pop, but she has also become an extremely critically acclaimed actress. On top of having record-breaking, albums and songs, she was part of an Oscar-winning movie, A Star is Born.

Despite all the success and respect that she has received today, it is important not to forget all that she had to move past to get where she yesterday. The perfect example of this is an interview that went viral because of the interviewer asking unimportant, questions to 23-year-old Gaga. Her response, however, is why fans love her so much.

Lady Gaga Was Asked an Odd Question

During an interview in 2009, via X, Lady Gaga was asked if she was scared that the s*xual references that she has in her music would undermine and overshadow her music. Finding this question to be odd and irrelevant, she simply said that she didn’t think so. Moving on to the next question she was asked what the biggest thrill of her career was to this date. She responded that it was the queer community.

“The gay community” She went on, “‘Cause I love them so much. Because they don’t ask me questions like that. Because they love sexual, strong women who speak their mind.”

She explained her reason for this, stating that it was because she loved them so much. She then, pointed her answer at the interviewer, stating that they did not ask her questions like the one that he just asked her. She finished by saying that they love women like her, who are strong, s*xual, and speak their minds.

Lady Gaga Called Out The Sexism

Lady Gaga then went on to call out the interviewer and the sexism that exists in the film industry when it comes to female and male artists and how the media treats them. She stated that if she was a man, talking about how they make music that has s*xual themes and undertones and spoke their mind, they would be labeled a rockstar.

“You see, if I was a guy and I was sitting here with a cigarette in my hands grabbing my crotch talking about how I make music because I like fast cars and f**king girls, you’d call me a rock star. But when I do it in my music and video because I’m a female and I make pop music, you’re judgemental and say it’s distracting. I’m just a rock star.”

On the other hand, if she does the same things in her music videos and talks about the same things, she’s not given the same treatment. Even though she makes pop music, and calls herself a rockstar, she is treated with judgment and labeled as distracting simply because she is a woman. Calling out the interviewer for this certainly has become a significant moment in the music industry.
