Tony Bellew’s comments about his big wins over David Haye on I’m a Celebrity has stunned fight fans.
Bellew has entered the jungle as one of the newest campmates in this year’s show.
He joins a long list of legendary boxers to have swapped the ring for the jungle, with the likes of Amir Khan and Chris Eubank also appearing on the ITV show.
Not to mention Haye, who fought Bellew twice in the professional ranks.
They first met in a grudge match in May 2018 before running it back the following year.
Bellew won both fights, securing stoppages in each contest. He won a TKO in their first showdown after Haye suffered an Achilles injury. ‘The Bomber’ then scored a big stoppage victory in the rematch.
Despite boasting two wins over Haye during his career, the Liverpudlian admits the ‘Hayemaker’ was a ‘far better fighter’ than himself.
He referenced Wrexham hypothetically beating Manchester United or Liverpool as he acknowledged his former foe.
“I’ve fought David twice and I’ve beaten him twice, but he’s a far better fighter than me,” he said. “If Liverpool or Manchester United lose to Wrexham, does that make Wrexham better than Liverpool or Manchester United?”

One X user wrote: “Fair play Tony, a rare moment of honesty.”
A second tweeted: “Well yeah fair take, David Haye was brilliant in his prime, but that style doesn’t work with age sadly.”
A third added: “He’s right in a way. A prime David Haye was absolutely sensational.”
A fourth said: “I think most would agree that a prime Haye beats a prime Bellew.”
Another commented: “Smartest thing he’s ever said.”
Bellew walked away from boxing having won a world title at cruiserweight, but he’ll be remembered for his two massive wins over Haye.
